Values

1. Autonomy: One of my favorite values is autonomy. Autonomy refers to the empowerment of others. It brings freedom to others by releasing control. Control is something that can cause a lot of harm or it can be very helpful. Controlling others is usually harmful and controlling yourself is usually helpful. Autonomy is surrendering control so that others can become more creative. I believe autonomy is a characteristic that is in all great leaders. This is because all great leaders bring out the best in others. They see the potential in others and give them the tools to unlock it. With autonomy you are giving others responsibility, a voice, and intrinsic motivation.

2. Compassion: Compassion is a value that I so deeply want more of in my life. So often we read in the Bible about how Jesus was moved by compassion for others. Whenever he healed someone or showed love to others, he was moved by compassion. He saw the pain, hurt, suffering of others and desired to bring change. He could feel what they felt, he understood them completely, and then was so filled with love that he couldn't help but do something about it. I want to see people have compassion for each other. I want people to really relate with one another and understand each others burdens.

3. Faith: Faith is where victory comes from. In order to walk through life with power, hope, joy, peace, and love, there must be faith. Believing in something greater than yourself settles the storm. It helps you realize the life isn't all about you and that there is one that is greater than your problems. Also, faith is an entry way into so many other values. Compassion, humility, and so much more stems from faith. Believing in a true love, a true hope, a way that actually changes life for the better, will bring new realities to life that are revelatory and amazing.

4. Humility: Walking through life believing that you are better than others is a life unfulfilled and corrupted. People will always be a burden or just another obstacle in the way. And nothing will ever be good enough because of poor relationships. Humility will help you see others as equal, and as important. Humility will empower you to serve a person like you would serve yourself. Whether the person is a different ethnicity, gender, or age, they are worth loving and serving.
